The real-life Kitasan Black (foaled March 10, 2012) is one of the highest-earning Japanese racehorses in history. Owned by Ono Shoji and closely associated with famous enka singer Saburo Kitajima, he became a massive fan favorite during his racing career.

Known for his robust health, incredible cruising speed, and resilience, he rarely missed a major race. After retiring in a blaze of glory by winning the Arima Kinen in 2017, he has gone on to become a highly successful sire. Most notably, he is the father of the phenomenal Equinox, who carried on his legacy by dominating the global racing scene.
